thanks so much! (:

just wondering, do we need to know HEAPS of detail for the mag's specialist divisions? or for any of the courts for that matter? coz in the textbook, there's a crapload of stuff on them and also wayy too much detail about all the children's courts, family courts etc.
i noticed in  your notes, it's a lot simpler.

please tell me that all we need to know for the exam is what's in your notes

i've been trying to study for legal but it's so discouraging looking at all that info in the textbook- it's a massive load that you just have to memorise! so i just give up and play games on the computer :P

The information I have on court hierarchy's in my notes is basically all you have to know. The most important aspect of court hierachys is understanding the jurisdictions, original and appellate (ie. where the case will be heard for the first time and on what grounds can a case be heard on appeal and in what court)

Dont worry about the rest of the stuff on each court. I memorised my hierarchy notes last year and there happened to be a question on appellate jurisdiction.

Special divisions of the court: just remember what they are and what the deal with.
