Persuasive essay - Creating and Presenting

I'm trying to practice writing a persuasive essay for C&P but I have a feeling my piece sounds more like a R&R essay. The ideas are there and I'm using evidence from my selected text to defend my view, but I'm not that happy with it.

What else can I include besides rhetorical questions and inclusive language?

Perhaps pick a more distinctive tone? Maybe passion + lots of metaphorical descriptions?
