Music Psych Essay?

Is anyone doing music psych? If so, how's your essay going? And how did you find the articles? Ive been trying to find some of mine from lectures, but they do not exist on google or on the unimelb database, so im struggling.. this is horrible><

the main library super search, they aren't... for example one of the first studies in the lecture im doing my essay on about music having only intrinsic and aesthetic value that we can appreciate and no survival value (cognitivist theory, Davies 2010) i cannot find anywhere. same with some others, so i cant do it :\

All the best with your essay. Just curiously, what are the essay topics this year? (I took it in 2009 and they had us write an essay based on a 'personal experience' in the context of one of the lectures in the series.) Anyway, a quick and random Google search got me this:

Doesn't really look like the Davies reference is for a journal? (it's probably the wrong Davies haha) You could possibly confirm with your lecturer what the reference is. Hope that helps!

haha i think the same Davies, but not the same article I need.. yep its the same topic..

actually after started, it's really not that hard haha, it's fairly easy I'm just going to find random music+emotion articles (what mine is on) and it should be so fine.

ok 1800 words in (so proud ) and just need to do the final part which i am having trouble with.

i need to consider what research is suggested at the end of articles and build on existing research
 by showing limitations and also propose something unique for future..

but how can i do this properly if i wasn't able to find the proper articles for all my references (i have 15, but got information from different sources and cited it correctly as i couldn't read entire article)? should i just make stuff up? there are so many studies in mine that i can't find future research/limitations for all :s

Why couldn't you read the entire article? log into the melbourne website and you should get access

In terms of limitations just talk about the same old stuff, correlation = causation and bias etc. Then design an experiment that overcomes it

most of my articles weren't on the unimelb thing, thats why i found this essay so hard initially as that unimelb has nothing so i wasn't able to find the full articles for most.. but thanks for reply

so i could basically just say, these experiments have some limitations include whether the correlation equals causation (did you mean that?), participant and experimenter bias occured as well as a few random specific limitations of the studies i could read perhaps? and then say a future experiment could be to do it double-blind (overcomes bias') even though that doesnt work as these are about music and the articles are all different topics... but better than nothing? haha i hate this stuff when its not clear and defined like normal psychology..

ok, i emailed the substitute coordinator and she told me its fine if i just did suggestions for research in general in that area, that was fineeee.
