Hai  guys, i have some questions.  :idiot2:
I have CHEMISTRY AND PHYSICS EXAMS coming up, i just want to ask, is it enough if we just study the parts that are published in study design.
IF so can u please post the latest study design of Chemistry and Physics :)

They're on the VCAA site but some of them are a bit vague. If you really want to excel then its better to do some more study that is outside the study design

They can only ask you questions that goes under the study design, so it would be a good idea to understand everything listed there. I remember a question which featured in NEAP 2010 that had "Isolelectric points" which I'm pretty sure is not in the year 12 syllabus.

Isn't that just to do with the 'zwitter ion'?
if so, im fairly sure it is on the study design

Really? I asked my teacher about isolelectric points today after doing the NEAP 2010 trial exam and she no. She even asked one of the other teachers to confirm. Of course we have to know Zwitter ions, which is just sketching the amino acid...

Zwitterions are on the study design, Isoelectric points are not.
Neap's thinking in creating this exam was that with the information they give you, you should be able to complete the question by applying what you know and have learned, which is not really unfair - it's just on the more complex side in terms of application. So, I think it is a difficult but legitimate question.

i've not done the exams yet, but as far as the isoelectric points go, we are atleast supposed to know that
at the isoelectric point, an amino acid will have no charge, and when the pH is greater than that of the isoelectric point, the amino acid has a negative net charge.
Is that correct, or?

But in regards to your original question, only questions from the study design can be asked.

I don't think, strictly speaking, you have to have even heard of an isoelectric point when you sit that chem exam. (Not that extra understanding and knowledge is a problem, really). I do think that, given the extra information they gave you, it is reasonable to expect you to apply your knowledge to this situation.
