This is an extremely subjective question that depends on you and what you have done so far.
Prior to starting exams I had finished all the questions in our textbook, worksheets school gave us and checkpoints.
I had already seen 90% of questions in the exams I was doing so I was getting around 95% in the initial ones.

If you had not done checkpoints and not a lot of working during the year leading up to now from your textbook and other sources, I would be pretty satisfied with around 85% and that will surely increase as you get closer to the exam.

For theory, I try to mark myself as hard as possible. Even if the answer was similar, I would probably mark it wrong and write the suggested answer in a red pen. So ultimately, I mark it as 'wrong'. As for calculations, I make sure the right sig figs EVERY step. I'll take one mark off the whole exam if sig figs are off. This occurred almost every time when I started, however now it doesn't seem to be much of a problem. I'll also mark my organic structures incorrect if they carbon chain are not zig-zag, with the exception of the large amino acids

Yes, I've been hitting between 85-95 even after all of this.

To save you some hassle, carbon chains are allowed to be at right angles rather than zig-zag.

Yeah, hardest Lisachem in the study design IMO

From TSFX's email i recently got

Code: [Select]
-You do not need to provide states or show lone pairs or valence electrons in structural formulae and equations.

-Although the current Chief Assessor accepts structural formulae drawn with right angles, we do encourage students to
draw molecules showing the appropriate 3-D shape i.e. tetrahedral or triangular etc.

- If asked to show “all bonds”, do not forget to expand CH3 and OH groups etc.

So either way (zig-zagging or right angles), you'll still get the marks for it.

With question 4a (Circle only the atoms on the components that will form bonds with the other components to form a single nucleotide) from Insight 2011, shouldn't it be the CH2 and CH from the deoxyribose that is circled instead of the OH groups (as in the solutions) as it is effectively the CH2 and CH which bond with the other components to form a nucleotide?
