Area under Graph

What's the recommended method to count the area under a graph?

So far I've been using (no. of full squares + 1/2 no of the cut squares)*(value of 1 square) = area under graph.
That method doesn't work that well all the time.

if half or more of a square is contained under a graph count it as 1.

so no. of  half or more of a squares  *   (value of 1 square) = area under graph

thats how i have been doing it

Yeah, I was considering a square to be 'full' when it was whole, not half of more.

Thanks for that, my answers are within range of the answers now :).
