All Nighters. Good? Bad?

Apparently, some studies say that if you compare two people that have different amounts of sleep one night(say one person has 2 hours, the other has the full 8 hours needed) then the same amount the next night(both sleep for 8 hours) there is no difference in alertness etc. So it's basically saying that you don't need to 'catch up' on lost sleep, as long as you sleep well the night before something important, you should be fresh and ready to go.

I don't know how reliable this info is(I don't have a source, just heard it off a friend), and personally I wouldn't be willing to risk trying it before an exam, but if you've done it already Taiga, then I guess there must be some truth to it, and maybe it only works over two nights...I'd be very wary about sleeping two hours/night for 5 days then having eight and assuming you'll be fine...

It wouldn't be a good idea if you had two exams in two days haha.

I do all nighters. They definetly are good if you're behind on homework but not to study. Do your studying earlier on and homework and questions later at night. This can help becauser of the repetition especially with math question when your grinding your way through and exercise.

I think you're correct in terms of awareness.

I was referring more to maximizing your hours of uptime before an exam by getting little sleep 2 days before, additionally I usually never get to sleep before 2AM, so if I deprive myself one night, the next night i generally always feel better on the next night. Perhaps just a psychological thing.

Going to move this  back to Gen VCE, not sure why it's here :D

Undertaking an 'All-nighter' would be kind of risky, depending on the current state your in. If your all tired and weary, then it wouldn't be recommended. But if your awake, and ready to learn something new, then that would be the best possibility. And also remember to take breaks every half an hour or so. (:
