Isolated Collision

Can someone please tell me the definition of an isolated collision?
I'm unsure because I came across a question saying that a car transferring all it's momentum into the earth is not isolated.

An isolated collision is when the momentum is not conserved.
I asked my physics teacher and he said it is not in the study design.
