Bachelor Of Science Clearly-In For 2012 Students.

On the Melbourne University website it says the clearly in is 85.05 but I have been told that is inaccurate and it's closer to 88.05.

If the clearly-in really is 88.05 what sort of enter on average could get you into (If you didn't reach 88.05).

Like if clearly in is 88.05 on average would a 86 most likely get you in ?

Also another question not sure if anybody knows but, Say I only get a 85 enter, but I want to become an Actuary. Is there any way I could actually do it ? (VIA Transfer or Another Uni or Something.) Just wanted to know my options. Thanks.

clearly in is what you need to get into the course unless you have SEAS/special consideration, so this year getting above 85.05 would get you in to Science, whereas in previous years it has been higher. I dont think 2012 entry will be higher than 86 so aim around there and you should be fine.

actuary with 85 is a struggle.

You would have to go from Monash Caulfield Business and Commerce then to Monash Clayton Commerce and then do actuary from there (assuming it is accredited by then).
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.

Since the introduction of the Melbourne Model, the highest ever Clearly-In recorded for Science at UoM was recorded for 2009 VCE students (ie. students starting in 2010).  The Clearly-In was like 89.05.  UoM staff believed that by having such a high Clearly-In, they felt that they had excluded many worthy applicants, so they increased the number of places offered to lower the Clearly-In.1  Remember that the Clearly-In is solely based on supply and demand.  So the higher the supply to combat the demand will help to lower and/or stabalise the Clearly-In.

Also, historically, being UoM, they have been quite stringent on Clearly-Ins.  So if you're below the Clearly-In and you're a normal applicant without SEAS/Access Melbourne, then there is close to 0% chance you'll get into your desired course.

With regards to the actuary question, please see taiga and vexx's post.  :)

It doesn't really matter what course you would do because transfers to most any degree now? aren't handled internally - my transfer was all done through VTAC.  And for a midyear transfer only your VCE marks count.  You'd have to wait until the end of the year, and some people do get a bit shocked going from school to uni (marks wise, I mean, they seem not to do as well once they get in to Melbourne simply because of the high calibre cohort).

dont aim for an atar that is bare minimum

Use your mid year score as an indicator.. say if you get a B the study score for the subject would be around 30-33. Dont expect a "high A+" at the end of year and slack off on other subjects because thats what a lot of my friends did...
