Hey all.

I'm a science student and doing Introductory to microeconomics in semester 2, however i have never done any commerce related subject since year 9. So im not really confident. Could anyone who has done this subject last semester PLEASE PLEASE send me the lecture notes for it so i can just read ahead in order to make the subject less daunting??

Thanks, and really appreciate the efforts!!

I did, albeit in 2010.

Do you understand the concepts of supply and demand?  If so, you've passed the subject.  :)

It is most certainly not daunting.  Since I did it in first semester, I had Jeff Borland.  Not sure if he's lecturing in semester 2 though.

i've heard that he might not be lecturing Sem 2, but like Gloam said, it's not that daunting.
I was at your position at the start of this year, never done any commerce related subjects at all. So, i reckon you'll be fine!

Jeff Borland is hands down the best commerce lecturer I've had, but I don't think he lectures in Semester 2. I also thought he had gone off to Harvard after my year (2008).

In anycase, I do have his notes Cuddlekins. PM me your e-mail!!

Yeah, we went to Harvard in 2010 of semester 2 as well.  One of the best memories were:

1.  The video contest.
2.  Game theory as the last topic.  Best topic ever, hands down.

Gloam, do they offer comprehensive solutions to past papers?

Yes, for the short answer questions - from memory.  I think economics is a subject where they have to give you comprehensive answers for the short answer questions.  Or else, you wouldn't know how much detail to put in.

Been stalking the Video Competition. Gotta  be honest, recent winners have been rubbish, but the social optimum one was cool.

yea i did intro micro for my breadth (im also doing science at melb), i wouldn't panic at all, its a manageable subject.

It definitely is different to most of your science subjects but it also offers a nice break from them. And yea as simonhu and kopite said Jeff truly is good, it is quite a  shame you didn't take it in first semester :P.

Also the resources available are excellent, and the tutorials are great too.

Commerce subjects typically have "pit-stop tutorials" where there will be a tutor on duty to answer any queries that you may have.  Just rock up to the designated room at the right time and ask away.  :)

The lecturer will usually publish the timetable for pit-stops early in the semester.

Have you seen this one?  It won first prize in my semester.

Just make sure you don't go near Accounting!! Most other commerce stuff I've heard is alright. Accounting Reports and Analysis has to be the worst subject I've done in my life though. Avoid it like the plague.
