Physics Prac- Building a DC motor

Hey just wondering if anyone has done a prac that involves building a simple DC motor using magnets.

im doing it now but im all stumped for ideas. Ive searched google but they have super intense DC motors.

Any suggestions or/ resources?

Just a square loop with a split ring commutator in a magnetic field will do he job. You don't need a fancy commutator, just skin half the insulation off the bit of the end enamelled wire.

I remember doing a prac in Year 9 I think, where we built a DC motor from taking a copper wire and putting it into a coil, two metallic paperclips and a couple of magnets. These were attached to a power supply. I can't exactly remember all the details, but looking up those components should find you that same DC motor design.
