How do you tell the difference between a square root function and a edit: semi - circle?


couldn't be both a edit: semi - circle AND a squareroot function?

its only the bottom half of the circle because of the negative in front. if it was plus or minus in front then it would be a whole circle.

its not like your normal square root function like say because it is under the bracket and not . it changes into a different group of functions.

The principal square root function is just , in regards to your question, it is just definitions, there's no special 'rule' that says has to be a semi circle, it is just defined to be.
PhD @ MIT (Economics).

can anyone clarify in simple english what the log function is?

log = logarithm
