Hi guys.

I'm already doing a 1+2 (economics) and want to move into further 1+2. (I'm in year 10 at the moment.)

Would it be ok if I've missed out on the first unit?

And would the work be very hard to do for me?

(I'm a straight A+ student in maths for this year.)

mate, no - one with straight A+ can do further its just too hard.
I've seen people who thought they were smart get ruined by linear graphs and equations.

Each module has a separate part in the exam. You have to indicate on the exam whcih modules you will be doing. So you can study for a different module and do that in the exam instead of one of the ones your school is doing.

thanks B^3 and Swarley.

So, that means there are different exams when it comes to further? That makes sense.

im sorry i don't follow your train of thought? i'm really not very good with english, explain further?

I think he meant 'no-one.'

It's true, a lot of students who do very well in methods/spesh have trouble doing further. (Not sure if he was being sarcastic). Apparently, a different way of approaching questions is required.

Yeah ive found that stronger math students usually dont do as well in further for some odd reason. Ive known people who struggled with some of the stuff in methods and score like 30-35 but score 40+ in further. So choose wisely, if you want a 40 in further you have to work for it - and i mean really work hard for it. It wont be given to you on a plate as me and a few friends realised...

Exaclty you have to work hard to get anywhere without silly mistakes, or you could do what I did and use further as a "trial run" for my other subjects, i.e. it is the practice of sitting VCAA exams and studying for them. It helped too, others were freaking out waiting to go into the first exam (physics) and well I'd already been through all of that and it was just another exam. Further requires easier maths but as someone said, it's interpreting it in a different way. The first time I saw the cone of death (methods last year) I thought it was a further question, and that stumped alot of people, including the some top students.
