VCAA and enhancement?
« on: August 15, 2008, 04:56:47 pm »

I contacted VTAC just then inquiring about if I need to give extra information on my enhancement study
however, much to my surprise, VTAC seems completely oblivious to the fact that I was doing enhancement at all [and the call handler was oblivious to the fact that there is indeed such thing called "enhancement" or "extension" studies at uni]

the worrying thing is that this lady said my MUEP subject is not listed in my U3/4 sequences, and therefore will not contribute to my ENTER, and adviced me to contact VCAA via the school about registering it as part of my U3/4 sequences [which my VASS/VCE coordinator told me that VCAA does not handle it]
and now it appears VTAC does not handle it either?!

I am now completely unsure of how this process works, so people who have done MUEP/UMEP in the past, did you have the enhancement subject on your VASS printout? is it registered with VCAA?

or is this call handler just terribly incompetent?

Isn't your school required to show you a list of all your subjects/units to ensure they have all the write information before they submit it to the VCAA? I remember signing some form with my subjects on it earlier in the year, maybe term 2?

If it's your schools fault, then it has to be fixed. Don't worry too much

yep, and I was assured by my VCE/VASS coordinator that it does not appear on that list.
apparently that's wrong!

Don't worry, all you need to do is get the list and add it on.

... and hope the teacher incharge of VASS inputs it into the database.

Mine wasn't listed on my school's VASS, UoM had to sort it out. Then, when I applied to VTAC, I didn't have to put down my extension study, apparently that was done for me or something. Ugh, I wish I could remember now! But don't fret too much, call VTAC again because they sort out the ENTER scores, or talk to your careersy person.

I had to spend a while chasing this up with school, with having been inducted late into MUEP. This thread's reminded to double check with school to make sure that it's down as one of my subjects, I can't remember getting a conclusive answer from them but I do remember signing the subject enrollment sheet and it wasn't down on there.

My printout at the start of the year didn't have it I think but the most recent one did. I suppose if everyone is not claiming responsibility to contact Monash uni - Melissa Melder? but yeah all the best with it!

talked to my VASS coordinator today and got a new printout. it's on now. It appears that when results came out for semester 1, the uni(s) have been in direct contact with VCAA and the entry is created. VTAC doesn't appear to have the most up-to-date data either, and some call handlers can be quite incompetent

my school was assured in writing today that the school don't need to do anything about it, VCAA/VTAC and the uni(s) work with each other directly.

phew~ big scare
