Crazy multi choice Q (try it out)
(1/1)
Faraz:
Alright this questions a killer, at least for me :D
try it out see if you can work it out
Question:
Four genes found on the same chromosome are represented by R, S ,T and U. The percentage recombination between the genes is
R-T 7%
S-T 37%
S-R 30%
R-U 20%
T-U 13%
The sequences of genes along the chromosome must be
A. R,S,U,T
B. T,R,S,U
C. U,R,T,S
D. S,R,T,U
GOOD LUCK!!!
NE2000:
OK, S-T are most separated on the chromosomes. R is a locus between S and T. The remaining point is U, which is 13 units away from T and 20 units away from R. So it is further along the chromosome from T, which would explain why it is further away from R than T.
Therefore the order is (hopefully) S,R,T,U
The answer hopefully is D
Am I right?
Faraz:
yessssss wow it toook me um 13 mins to work that out :(
is there something you know that I dont???
..units???..... are they the %'s??
wait shouldnt it be the higher the % the closer the gene loci???
shinny:
I don't remember too much about this, but isn't it because if they're further apart, theres more potential length of chromosome to be spliced, and hence a greater percentage?
