The exam

What are we thinking Question 4 - comparison of artworks pre/post 1970 using frameworks - will be about?

Our teacher told us that it definitely wouldn't be 2 works pre-1970, or 2 works post-1970...but I've read the study design/exam summaries on the VCAA website and it doesn't say that anywhere. What has everyone else heard from their teachers?

2004: One artwork, 2 formal elements
2005: Two works (one pre, one post-1970), 1 interpretive framework (NOT including formal)
2006: One pre-1970 work, one framework (including formal)
2007: One post-1970 work, two frameworks (including formal)
2008: ?

for section B, the two long extended questions which we choose artworks that we have learned throughout the year, can we write on the same artworks for each question?

Nope, generally not
It normally says in the question "you must choose different artworks to those discussed in Q4" or something to that effect...

Yeah sorry, I just had another look - in 2006 they had to be different, but they didn't mention it any other year. Still, it's better to be safe than sorry....

Hey Bec and Rosie just thought i would join in on the Art discussion since we are an endangered species and must keep each other informed!

My teacher has a feeble inkling that it will be one artwork pre and post 1970. Similar to the 2005 exam. None the less i think i am going to be safe and remember every minute detail of the pieces.

How did you both go on your SAT's?

Yeah did well got a perfect score however they keep reminding us that due to statistical moderation it will most likely change. Do full scores go down?

Hi guys.. i kinda just discovered the art forum (i'm a little late :))
I was wondering that too, because I got full marks for my folio as well. Can it be scaled down if you get 100%? Usually, theory work doesn't, but I'd like to know about our SATs

How are you all feeling about the exam?? It's my last one, and I just want to find a few more commentaries for my artists, because I'm sick of the ones I have.!!

What artists have you been studying?

Hey Aurelie i would hope that our full scores wouldn't get scaled down! It would be pretty sad if they did however i agree about the theory i'm pretty sure it stays the same.

I'm feeling good about the exam considering we have a whole week to study for it. Still need to work on a few things though.

This year we studied a couple of different artists including: Dorothea Lange, Sebastian (forgot his surname), Artemisia Gentieschi, Cindy Sherman and for commentaries we've done Fiona Hall, Jenny Holzer, Bill Henson and Patricia Piccinini.

I know theres more but after the further exam i'm a little brain dead.

How about you?

You actually studied artists in class? We only had about 4 theory lessons all year, not including the 2 SACs. All the theory I know, I've taught myself...I chose artists I liked etc, then went through the study design/past exams with a fine-toothed comb. I didn't realise other people actually studied artists IN class!

Is that common? Do most classes do that?

Hey bec, not sure but our teacher gave us heaps of pre sac written tasks with lots of different artists. I think we did around 4 before our first SAC and then one for our last one. I would say that she gave us the work and it was expected that we complete the tasks. Thinking about it now we did spend a lot of time on theory. Hmm, what does everyone else done.  :)

Don't worry, we only had a few theory classes throughout the year - maybe one every 3-4 weeks - but, aside from when we were talking about interpretive frameworks and such, it was more like private study, and general questions, because everyone in my class are doing varied artists.

I'm doing rather tame artists really. Goya & Tucker for pre-1970, and Peter Booth & Tracey Moffatt for post-1970. I also know a bit about Henson and Picasso, just in case.
I did photography throughout the year, so I decided to choose at least one photographer!

We didn't do much structured theory work though, or given many examples.. hmmm.. maybe I should be worried!

I'm feeling okay about the exam. Pretty good, but not fantastic. I tend to repeat myself a lot in the last question, so I need to fine tune. But I've done practice exams and compiled all of my notes on artists & frameworks and the commentaries, so its really just about revision. I have 2 exams the day before though :(

Ew, maths. how was it? I dropped it at the end of last year.. way too much brain effort and construct for my liking :)

I did art last year, i got an A+ for my folio, and B+ for my exam

So i don think Folio's get moderated, only cross checked by an examiner.

If only i knew that the end of year exam for Art was so much LIKE ENGLISH!! I would never have done it >_<
English - VCD - Methods - Physics - Chemistry - Art - Japanese

give me the name list of all the hot chicks u know  ;)
