AEROBIC SYSTEM
ash_dhs:
i thought i was clear about this, but some reading and certain solutions has caused some concern
my belief was that the aerobic system will become DOMINANT after approx 25-40 seconds into activity
the graphs of the interplay between systems also suggests this..
however i had read some solutions to particular questions stating that it will become dominant after 1-2 minutes into activity
i was also under the impression that it will become dominant under most intesities at approx 30 seconds since that is the time it takes to take in o2 and transport it to the muscles
can someone please clarify my knowledge...tnx
akkxn:
Annoying huh? If they ask for a time when the aerobic system becomes dominant, I think the best answer would be between 30-60seconds, with a peak power at 75 seconds. I wish the different sources would agree on a similar figure - -

There really is no right answer.
Can someone tell me if i'm right in saying that the Aerobic System is dominant after LIP?
ash_dhs:
well in most cases it would be, however not necessarily
when LIP is passed, LA is entering the blood faster than it can be removed/oxidised
in most cases the aerobic system would be dominant there, with the LA system also contributing significantly
however, i think the LIP can still be passed when an athlete is working predominantly from the LA system, most likely to occur during intermittent activity
but during continuous activity, your pretty much right, except remember that the aerobic system wont necessarily become dominant when the LIP is reached, it could become dominant before or even after that, depending on the intensity of activity
make any sense..??
mtwtfss:
Yeah, i was thinking about continuous activity, aerobic is dominant then LIP occurs, then aerobic is still dominant just an increase in LA System production of ATP.
