so, seeing as i realised i have a significant lack of essay topics to attack, i thought it'd be a good idea for us all to post any topics our teachers have given us or topics we did for sacs etc so we can expand our resources a bit! just post them under book headings and say if they're part 1 or 2

ill start with some man for all seasons ones

'there's nothing wrong with richard rich. he makes the most of difficult circumstances.' discuss (part 1)

'although more is the play's hero, the common man is really the "man for all seasons".' discuss (part 1)

'the play demonstrates that in the end, everybody has their price.' do you agree? (part 2)

'better a live rat than a dead lion.' the play suggests that some kinds of behaviour give you a better chance of survival than others. discuss

everyone add some more, for all texts!

I have finished re-reading the texts, now I am:
-Revising my notes/interpretations of the texts.
-Memorizing quotes.
-Practicing unpacking essay topics and writing plans.
-and trying to get myself to actually write some practice essays. lol. :-)

+ i am practicing the Writing Task under time limits.

Lantana topics

"Trust is as vital to human relationship as breathing is to life - and just as elusive." Lantana illustrates how fragile trust can be. Discuss.

Although Lantana reveals the flaws and shortcomings in its characters, the film nevertheless succeeds in engaging our sympathy for them. Do you agree?

"The women in Lantana are stronger and more honest with themselves than the male characters." To what extent is this true in the film?

"At the conclusion of the film, the suffering of its characters outweighs any optimism we might feel." Discuss.

"The film is effective and engaging because the audience can identify with many of the human dilemmas its characters face." Is this the only way Lantana engages its audience?

"The film illustrates that love is fragile and easily undermined." Discuss.

"The film is an examination of choices - poor choices made by people in flawed relationships." Discuss.

"Lantana shows that to communicate honestly is difficult, even for people who love each other." How difficult do the characters find honest communication?

"Lantana is a film about ordinary people trying to make sense of their lives." Is this the film's main strength?

"The Lantana plant metaphor is a powerful reflection of the human relationships explored in the film." Discuss.

"John, or perhaps Jane, are the films most tragic characters while Nik and Paul its most uplifting." To what extent do you agree?

"Suspicion and doubt are the corrosive forces which destroy love in the film." Discuss.

"The suspense and tension created by the film's police mystery structure is central to its success." Is this why the film is successful?
