Oh. I got 98 internally. :P It became 99/100 when VCAA adjusted it. (On the other hand, I got high 80s in Specialist internally, and that went straight to 100)

ahh i have another question, from the 07 exam this time though

http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/studies/mathematics/methods/pastexams/2007/2007mm1.pdf

question 3 - graphing the derivative function. question is, how do i work out the gradient for the straight line (the one with a positive gradient) so i can draw the resulting derived horizontal line in the right place? hope that made sense..

since its a straight line when you derive it, for example y = x, it becomes y = 1

hence it becomes a horizontal straight line

since it was previously postive it has to be above, the X AXIS.

If it was a negative gradient it would be below, the X AXIS.

The straight line will have a positive gradient, so you'll have a horizontal line above for a while, then the horizontal line has a derivative of zero, so that will be a flat horizontal line at

@coblin & onlyfknhuman

yeah but where exactly does it go above the x axis? doesn't it have to be in line with y = m, where m is the gradient of the original function?

Yeah, I'm assuming they don't really care about the y-scale.
