Can't hide e-mail address?

I've ticked the box in my profile saying to hide e-mail address, but why is my e-mail still showing?

Sorry if I missed some previous announcement if there was a bug to this feature.

Oh okay. Thanks for the confirmation.

I can see the mail icon underneath my avatar and also the mail icon in the members list so I assumed it was public.
