Yeah, I also used that method to solve the question and got the same answer with you.
The problem is the question is in the "Projectile Motion" section not the conservation of momentum. So you have to use a projectile motion methodology to solve it, which I don't know how to.

hey,

During training, an aerial skier takes off from a ramp that is inclined at 40 degrees to the horizontal and lands in a pool that is 10m below the end of the ramp. If she takes 1.5 seconds to reach the highest point of her trajectory, calculate:
A/ the speed she leaves the ramp

Consider vertical component of velocity

where V = the speed she leaves the ramp











Is that right?

EDIT: used 9.8 for g instead of 10

That's how I would do it, if you go straight (i.e. don't separate the rising and falling part of the projectile motion) then you will get a quadratic I think. And it's best to avoid those.
