Nick, I suspect that science 101 is like my transition to commerce subject. It's like a 1-hour lecture per week. Not really a proper subject.

Yay for biology! The book is so heavy though, its like 3 kg. No joke!
You've got your books already? I'm gonna wait to see what my lecturers say. Those things are really expensive.

p.s. was that naww like an awww or like hell naww (oh hell no..)? i really meant it, ya know. :'(

edmund: let's go UoM meet-up. Just us two! ;D

:(

I meant 'N'awww' as in 'you're cute, thanks'. Hence the +karma. :)

Yeah, I bought the book since all 3 biology subjects use it and I don't think they'll change it anytime soon. I got it for 95$, but the original cost is around 144$ or something. I actually went to Safeway to weigh the book on the fruit scale so .. trust me when I say it's heavy.

Also, Edmund, make sure to buy the other Biology book since we have homework ALREADY. It's $22.

Which reminds me ... I still have to do my student ID crap.  :-\

I went there today to return/borrow some books. I think it was international student day or something cos there was a bunch of Asian people there with showbags (I wanted a showbag :(). Anyway, wilson hall was open today and people were going in and out getting their student ids.

Ah, that explains it. I should've asked that girl at Melbourne Central (she had the same red bag I saw at uni). While we were waiting for the train, I noticed that there were some magazines behind us (they looked korean). I thought somebody just left them there, so I took them to pass the time on the train. After a while, one of her friends walked over and they started talking. They were quite excited, so they were talking quite fast. At some point I think I heard an 'eumnida' in there somewhere, and then a thought hit me. I had stolen her stuff! I pulled them out of my bag and asked her if they were hers and she gave me a rather nasty 'no' with a kind of 'wtf?' expression on her face while she walked away. I have a feeling this is gonna happen a lot to me next week. -_-

squance: did you know where they were? I saw people walking around with them, but I didn't know where they got them from. I didn't bother getting them on my AAD, either. :(

I don't know. You know how stereotypically, when you think of Greek, you hear 'os' at the end of everything (think Theodorakopoulos)? When you hear Korean, eumnida and eyo's seem to always come up. Maybe -eumnida isn't really that common, maybe it's just cos it's in the only word I actually learnt. xD 고맙습니다

squance: i looked at that guide, and a lot of clubs are offering showbags. the thing is, most of them will only give you one after you've joined them. :(

editz: google is my friend

There is also a "polite formal" style, which you will find in some of the phrases above; in this style, declarative sentences end with the particle –습니다 / -읍니다 "-(s)eumnida" and questions in –습니까/-읍니까 "-(s)eumnigga."

Yeah.
But on Tuesday..
There will be heaps of tables out on South Lawn...
And there will lots of people giving out lots of different showbags...
I'll just go get the showbags, run off to another area of the uni, get rid of all the junk and keep all the goodies (stuffing them in my bag of course) :P..and then I'll go for another round of showbag collecting :p
Greedy much, am I?

I know I get a showbag for being a member.. what other ones are there? I guess I'll just have to shamelessly go round to find out.

Thanks for clearing that up! :)

Where did you buy your books from? Did you get funny looks at Safeway? :D

I bought my books from 'Encompass Books' which is a bookstore that specialises in Melb Uni books. They're awesome nice people, so go there if you can't find your books at Academics and General (also because they suck).

Well some woman was weighing packets of chips and eggs on the scale so..

Oh god.. did you break the scale?? lol

I heard about the Workbook but what was the homework? I think we have a prac soon.. On our timetable it shows we have 3 hours long prac for bio, chem, phy, does this happen every week?

I thought we had to like read all this stuff to get like .. 'into' the prac and stuff? I dunno.
