RMIT has been known to be far too practical. As a consequence to the uneven balance between theory and practical work, they deliver students who sometimes struggle in the work force. As a general consensus, RMIT has always been known to be practical for all its courses. However, RMIT is world known and has been teaching architecture for over 100 years.

UoM on the other hand enters its architecture course under the new Melbourne Model. From what I have gathered, the 3 year course is designed around the environmental issues of design. Furthermore, if you actually go to UoM, you are not guaranteed a place in architecture has a postgrad.
Most people who are doing environments want to major in Architecture so it would be pretty tough. I have a friend who dropped out of this course and labeled it as "a shit hole" and so he moved to do architecture elsewhere.

The interesting thing about Monash is the fact that it started in 2008. It is still too early to really see what Monash has to offer to be honest.
