The rules say write in pen, so write in pen.

say if someone wrote in pencil, do you lose all marks even though they're correct?

Nothing happens...  They just mark your paper like normal.

They will still mark your paper, but now that they're scanned into a computer, if you write in pencil and it smudges or is too light and they can't read it, obviously they can't mark it.

VCAA aren't here to troll you out, they're on your side. They are quite lenient actually.
