Verbs and Nouns in Questions

Hey everyone, I'd like to start a thread about how to answer questions with specific verbs and nouns like 'describe' and 'function'.
This is what I know so far:
'function' - describe the purpose of the mechanism
'process' - describe how it achieves this purpose
'structure' - describe the physical makeup of the mechanism
Anyone else got any suggestions?

'Explain' and 'describe' are two of the most common question types. In these cases I'd recommend using dot points to structure your answers, referencing a definition or process while actually making sure to answer the question.

If any comparison is involved, you must reference both things being compared using 'whereas' or 'compared to'.

Hold up, I thought compare meant similarities and contrast meant differences?

Well I was just saying that many people respond to a questions by stating:

A is more B

When you should say:

A is more B compared to C


Obviously this is with reference to contrasts, but I guess comparison can also require an assessment of similarities, which would require a different answer structure.
