Just realised I committed an act of necromancy... sorry.

Doesn't matter if the thread is stickied.
Excellent...<innocent necro>
Ok in relation to part B of the exam, the Context part, I am constantly reading different reports about whether a written explanation is required. My teacher rang VCAA and they said it isn't required or even going to be marked - anyone heard something similar?

I'm not sure if i use TEEL, i structure my essay a bit like this but i never think about it. It flows really well. what other way is there to write an essay? i mean you have to conclude, you have to link back to topic, you need an intro and examples... what other way is there?

I write my best when I write naturally. I never consciously use a structure, but if your freeform writing does not logically connect (TEEL does, for example), then you will run into problems. I think most paragraph structures roughly resemble TEEL, but I've never paid attention enough to see if it's a merely a rule (guideline) or an observation (what a good paragraph tends to have).

Wooh. These notes are awesome. *Printing*
These are going to be awesome as I have to write a two text analysis this weekend - hate the articles, but trying to remain positive. Peter Singer's writing is so hard to analyse *cries*. Apparently he has anger in the underbelly of his argument whilst having an academic/intellectual/philosophical take on whaling. Meh.
Psssh. Letting the family down. Issues analysis is easy!

this is awesome, thanks man

but one thing that could be expanded on is the different techniques writers use and how they are presented, (this is regarding the "analysis of persuasive language")

one of my problems is clearly identifying a good technique to write about.

Lol, TEEL is why people don't get 45+ on english, you need something more than that...

Sth like author's contention based on the context s/he wrote in (eg. 19th century) could get more marks for you...
