How is that even allowed haha. Seems a bit too real but I guess you will understand 1984 a lot more after that experience.

Yes that's why he's doing it!

I kinda feel like things are eerily quiet right now, kind of like the calm before a storm lol

I have like two SACs in week 4 then another one in week 5.

I don't feel motivated at all because everything is going so slowly and not busy at all. Need to motivate myself ASAP :/

How's everyone else feeling?

I feel the same way, my first SAC isn't for ages! Trying to force myself to study...somehow...

Yeah for some reason my first methods and spesh SACs aren't until Term 2 Week 7, which is causing lack of motivation to grind through boring functions we did last year.

That's the case with virtually every school now with the new study design

Hey guys! Just thought I'd pop in to say I hope you're all going well a week into Year 12 & to wish you good luck for the coming year :) Make sure you all look after yourselves and each other and stick together!

Yeah for some reason my first methods and spesh SACs aren't until Term 2 Week 7, which is causing lack of motivation to grind through boring functions we did last year.
Heh wait until you get to that week though, it's absolutely hectic. Make sure you don't leave doing your cheat book until the last minute like I did :P For me, not having many SACs for methods made it a bit more enjoyable - it took a bit of pressure off week to week and made sure I enjoyed class time a bit more!

I kinda feel like things are eerily quiet right now, kind of like the calm before a storm lol

Things will pick up soon and get a lot more busy! Enjoy the calm while it lasts and take this as an opportunity to do things at a bit of a slower pace. If it helps motivate you, set dates and times for you to have done certain things by, or speak to your teachers to get a bit of extra or different work, or perhaps to even get them to quiz you and all that :) In the earlier parts of year 12 I got my bio teacher to give me readings from a university science textbook that were relevant to what we were covering in class, that helped me keep a bit more engaged and motivated.
There will be plenty of times in the year when you aren't motivated to do stuff, but what matters is that you just keep on working through it :)

It feels so odd though because I just finished doing 3 year 12 subjects last year and then suddenly everything is just so so slow, but at least I know whats coming  :'(

Is anyone doing chemistry? What's your first SAC on? Mine's on the different fuels and efficiencies.

Wow, three 3/4s in year 11 would be hectic. My first chem SAC is in 6 weeks so it will probably be on redox and gas stoichiometry, which just seems to be an extension of the work we did in 1/2 chem, so it's not too difficult.

Yeah I think we have a SAC for redox at the end of term. Chemistry is going alright but I feel like it will suddenly get really hard...

Cool! Also, congrats on your health score!! I'm doing health this year, it seems alright but there's so much content to remember :/

Exactly my thoughts!! 😬

Thank you!
Yeah you have to constantly revise all the definitions! Health isn't a hard subject but the problem comes in where it's neglected for all the 'harder' subjects. That's where I went wrong and ended up getting a higher score in bio, which is way harder. Just remember don't put health last just because everyone says it's 'easy' 😊

wow I wish I could be as cheerful as you guys.
My class is insanely smart, and I always feel terrible comparing myself to them...lol.
Even when I get a decent mark, I look over my shoulder and instantly feel like trash.

Hey, don't ever compare yourself to others! It's the fastest way to make yourself upset in year 12. You need to focus on doing the best that you can, not on the best that John Smith in the 3rd row of your Chem class can!! Your ATAR is made up of your performances, not anyone else's. If you try your best and work hard during the year, then you can be proud of yourself at the end of the year - no matter what anyone else perceives your score to be.
If you don't get a grade that you're happy with, that's fine - you're entitled to be annoyed, or upset, or any emotion! But don't let the reason for you being annoyed/upset/etc be because someone got a better result than you.

At the risk of sounding harsh, you can't spend your whole life comparing yourself to others. There will probably always be someone who is better at you than something, that's just a fact of life!
Say you're a 100m runner...if you run a PB, you're not gonna be sitting there berating yourself because you're not as fast as Usain Bolt, you're gonna be bloody proud that you've run your best time so far!

As they say, you do you!
P.S. - if you need to, don't be afraid to speak to a teacher or someone else - even if it's just for a pep talk! :)

So how's everyone enjoying year 12 now that we are a few weeks in? Any favourite subjects or upcoming SACs you guys are excited/nervous about? Since there is a disturbing lack of banter I'll say I like year 12 right now, although I think it is probably because there I have no SACs in the near future.
