should I select a humanities subjects over a second maths?

hi everyone, I'm in yr10 and selecting my subjects for next year. so far I've decided I'm doing English, maths methods, bio, chem, and psych (3/4). For my sixth subject, I'm a bit torn. I do really enjoy maths and science, but I also like some of the humanities, particularly history.
Originally, I was thinking of doing 20th-century history as my sixth, but I can't really see myself moving into 3/4 revs or global politics. I'm also worried that it will take up a lot of time even though I would choose it as kind of a filler subject.
I started considering doing a second maths. Personally, I think spesh may be a bit out of reach for me, so maybe I should do general/further? It may be a bit slow-moving for me but will allow me to expand on my maths and maybe be beneficial overall?
I am opting for the Medicine pathway for uni so obviously maths and science are super important. I also know that I can pick up a humanities as part of a breadth subject in uni?

Most of your subjects are science-based so maybe it would be good to pick up a humanities subject next year, if you want a change in subjects, namely 20th Century History, and if you feel that it's too much for you, you could drop it in Year 12 and pick up another subject, such as Further? Also, when you say that you can't see yourself moving into 3 4 revs or global, you're still in year 10, so perhaps next year when you're well into the subject content, it would make you feel more comfortable with picking it up in Year 12. Also, next year, it's likely you'll have a greater understanding of what the humanities subject entails and what skills it requires for you to do well.
I don't do Further but my friends tell me that it's really easy to manage, so if you're worried about History taking up too much of your time, you could select Further instead?
The only undergrad pathway for Medicine in Victoria is through Monash Uni's Medicine program and I'm not completely certain but I'm pretty sure Monash doesn't offer breadth subjects (please correct me if I'm wrong), however Melbourne Uni does but there's no undergrad Medicine Program there, only postgrad Med.

Above are just some thoughts but I think it's mainly weighing up the pros and cons of taking each subject next year and what options we have if those don't work out.

Give Philosophy a go! It will defs help if you're looking at a career in Medicine, in terms of developing your ethical thought processes. Of course, like many things it can be self taught. However, being engaged in a course whilst in VCE is a very rewarding experience.

I go to a catholic school, and it is compulsory that we do one unit of either religion and society or philosophy.

Not offering Texts and Traditions as another option? At a Catholic school? Intriguing!

I did revs last year (in year 11) and I personally found the content to be really interesting and the class was really fun as well. But as you said, it does take up a lot of time, so you're probably right in not doing it if its only going to be a filler subject. I don't really know too much about further, so I can't say much on it, but apparently its a very competitive subject. And with specialist, its probably not the best filler subject, but if you do the work its not that bad tbh.
