A friend who is doing spesh showed me how to use lamis theorem when dealing with force related questions, and i was wondering which one is more advisable to use, lamis theorem or resolving the forces ie mg(sinθ) and mg(cosθ).

Resolving the forces is much simpler to do in exam conditions. The examiners won't really care if you derive the formulae or not, so just have them on a cheat sheet. Otherwise, do whatever you prefer at other times :)
