Misconceptions of UoM

Hi,

I am really wanting to get into UoM next year, and even though there are some rumours about the Uni, I still would love to get it.

But, a lot of teachers and people say that UoM is full of snobby rich kids who think they are better than you. I don't think it is true, but, from any current students, what is your assessment on the people there?

Given the number of students studying at practically any university, I think you're almost guaranteed to come across a very wide variety of people and personalities.

If I were in your position, I wouldn't give much weight to things like this you hear.

Oxford comma, Garamond, Avett Brothers, Orla Gartland enthusiast.

I studied at two completely different universities (La Trobe and Monash) during my undergrad and postgrad and I found both to contain very humble and 'down to earth' people along with those at the opposite end. I would not focus on this when choosing a course and uni, but focus on what the uni/course can do for you and your future.

I also think that the 'snobby' personality that you describe says more about the individual person, if anything. Not everybody is like that!
