Inspiring work Joseph41! Injuries can be such an physical and mental hurdle to overcome, so it's awesome to hear how successful your return to running has been. Have you been doing any stretches or similar to limit the chance of re-injuring yourself? maybe I should start running again too hmmm

Thanks man!

Stretches - none before (was instructed not to before cricket), only mild stretches after. Honestly I don't know what's best, so I'll do some research. :)

Be warned before you start reading that you'll be going down the rabbit hole lol - did a major assignment on stretching at uni this semester just gone.
Happy to provide links if you guys ever want to start reading! :)

I ran 10km last night.

Mixed feelings. I mainly did it as an emotional release (honestly, after like 1km, it's largely mental to a point). Happy I could do it, but dominant feeling this morning is annoyance at myself for doing it; I'm very aware it was a bad idea, and also was at the time.

You had a good 48 hours between runs, don’t beat yourself up. Congrats on the milestone!

Update: haven't run since January 10, disappointingly. My toe was giving me grief, then I struggled managing my time after going back to work. Sort of predictable, but also sort of disappointing. I'm hoping to re-start again soon - just going around the block sort of thing to get back into it. This will be important for me.

First run in 1.5 months today. The break was due to a few reasons:

1. Went back to work.
2. Started on meds, which were having a bit of an impact on me.
3. My toe.
4. I've been away or working pretty much every weekend since.

None is an excuse, but each has been a contributing factor.

Anyway, it's interesting what conditioning or a lack thereof can do. Last time I ran, I went 10km+ and felt incredible. Today, I ran 2.74km and am knackered.

Still, it's a start to get back on track! Happy.

Well and truly an impressive start to get back on track :)

Different circumstances and all, but I haven't run over 1.5km since October 2016, and the last time I ran was around July-August 2017, so seeing your progress is really inspiring and motivating - hope you're proud of yourself, Nick.

Have been quite unwell recently (since Thursday-ish). But felt I needed to get out. Jogged 3.34km. Happy. Think it'll be good for me.

Well done! 3.34km is awesome.
Sorry to hear you've been so unwell. Cheering on the sidelines for you, Nick! :D

Cheers! The aim is consistency at the moment. None of this 2km, 8km, 10km, no running for three months shit that I've got going on.
