How do you relax when there are so many things to do?

Is anyone else still feeling a bit stuck in the VCE/logistics/applications mindset?

Basically I applied to every medical school in Australia, which took a bezerk amount of paperwork because I'm rural, and I’ve been flat out over the past 3 weeks with interviews and travelling between states. My parents are also separated so I’ve been travelling long distances between them too.

So I’m feeling pretty exhausted and I want to have a break, but all that’s going through my head is ‘apply for this job’, ‘check my emails’, ‘read the fineprint of this form’, ‘note this down so I can start preparing for study in uni’. Like it’s as though I’ve already started university and I also have to do all these bank account/centrelink/whatever things.

I know I need to rest and take my mind off uni admissions but I’m still feeling so tense waiting feeling like I need to check my emails twice a day in case I get accommodation, scholarship or course offers from any of the unis.

Any advice? I don’t want to start uni feeling burnt out from the holidays  :-[

Often they'll give you at least 5 days' notice before any deadlines happen, so it might be good for you to just go for a digital detox and chill for a few days. No emails, no Facebook, no AN :)

Specific suggestions:
- set aside a particular time for checking emails etc.
- intentionally doing "nothing" activities that you can focus on instead (eg. gaming, reading)
- get outside and physically away from your laptop, paperwork etc
- plan activities with friends
- plan activities with family
- work on an old hobby / get a new one
- volunteer (eg for your local environmental group)
- start a non-academic project
- start, or build on, an exercise routine
- see what's happening at your local youth center
