I'm having a really hard time finding anything haha, I'm not sure how people can study this topic without any official textbooks..

Hi, twelftholmes,

While I'm not a HSC student, I would be more than happy to do a bit of research for you! I'll update this thread as soon as I find textbooks and resources for the Pericles personality study :)

Have a great week and kind regards,

Hi!

Here are the resources I found:

https://www.thinkswap.com/au/hsc/ancient-history/year-12/pericles-complete-personality-study-notes
https://quizlet.com/au/215756978/personality-pericles-flash-cards/
The resources on this forum: https://atarnotes.com/forum/index.php?topic=178985.0
https://study.com/academy/lesson/pericles-of-athens-facts-achievements-death.html
https://sourcebooks.fordham.edu/ancient/eb11-pericles.asp
https://www.jstor.org/stable/643155?seq=1

There is also a PDF attached to this forum post. But if you do need any more resources, please don't hesitate to contact me so I can do a bit more research for you. I would also recommend searching for your topic (i.e. Pericles Personality study) on Google Scholar for some academic articles, reviews, journals and books. And if you do need to find some more general sources, I would recommend searching: "Pericles Personality Study HSC" or "Pericles Personality Study AP" as both of these would have a sufficient amount of information and resources for you to use :)

Have a great week and kind regards,

Darcy Dillon.

I'm not from NSW either but I did Ancient History in VCE and some excellent sources which you should definitely use when researching on Pericles include:

Primary
- Plutarch, Life of Pericles (from Parallel Lives)
- Thucydides, History of the Peloponnesian War

Secondary
- Thomas R Martin, Pericles
- Donald Kagan, The Peloponnesian War

For the primary sources, you can find them online on the Perseus Library.

Martin also has a book on Ancient Greek history in general which touches upon Pericles in less detail.

I also have some notes on Pericles so feel free to PM me if you want them.

I might as well attach them here so that others can download too.

Just a disclaimer that these notes are for VCE Ancient History 3/4, not HSC. Also, they are for the entirety of the Peloponnesian War, all the information on Pericles would be in the first half of the document.
