your sac mark is a ranking, say you have 50 people doing psych. your ranked 40. your sac mark gets brought down to the 40th highest exam mark. i believe this is how it works as i read in that enter/calc section. so if the 40th exam mark was a C+ and your sacs a C. its a bonus for you. but if your sac mark was a B+ and the 40th exam mark was a D+. tough titties

should have tried hard for sacs. i know what you mean, i totally did not study for unit 3. picked up unit 4 up by studying my ass off.

hmmmph. thats a really tough on. 40-45 your sac is a LOW A+, your exam unit 3 is a low/mid A+, hence explain a lower SS then you expect, i mean some people get 3 straight A+ but low and they only get 39

A+ for end of years (mid-high)

Don't stress out about your SACs. It's extremely difficult to determine anything from them before statistical moderation.  ;)

Here's VCAA's explanation if you're interested:
http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/exams/statisticalmoderation/statmod.html

Calculation of the study score is a head case - your scores are first standardised.

Standardised GA = (Your score - State mean)/State standard deviation

After standardising, each GA is then weighted and added. For psych, eg:

(Standardised Exam 1 score x 0.33) +
(Standardised 3/4 Coursework score x 0.34) +
(Standardised Exam 2 Score x 0.33)

Following this, each student is ranked in descending order. (Eg 15,000, 14,999...) The ranks are then distributed normally on a bell curve. So:

The mean study score is set at 30. A score of between 23 and 37 shows that you are in the middle range of students; a score of more than 38 indicates that you are in the top 15%.

2% of students will get a score on or above 45
9% of students will get a score on or above 40
26% of students will get a score on or above 35
53% of students will get a score on or above 30
78% of students will get a score on or above 25
93% of students will get a score on or above 20.

how abt a A+ on exam 1
A+ on sacs (ranked number one)
and an A+ on exam 2 (89/90)
is it possible to get 48-50?

thats a rhretorical question
3 x A+ . ranked #1. what do you think. ? if that won't get you a 48-50, what will? A+++? no such thing.

Could i get a rough estimate here.

SACS: Mid B+
Exam 1: C+ (not too sure on exact score)
Exam 2: Not too sure on grade. MC = 34/44 (72%), and SA = ~27/46 (58%)

30-32
your exam 2 would have been a C+. if your coming from a strong cohort take 32. if your coming a weak one, expect that B+ to go down.

I'm still unsure about this cohort thing, would you be able to give me a brief explanation. There are only 15 in my class if that makes a different, probably roughly 6 of them are A or above students
