Arts (Melbourne University)

I'm paranoid about everything so here we go. I achieved a 95.10 for my ATAR (high I know) and have always dreamed about studying Arts at Melbourne University, which requires and ATAR of 91.40 (So I'm way above the clearly in). I spoke to the head of Arts and Melbourne and when I expressed my concern she laughed and said "oh you'll be fine, I'll see you at orientation next year at Melbourne" which is obviously very reassuring, but I understand that the Entry Requirement fluctuates every year. I'm paranoid that I won't get in, even though everyone is telling me I will, can someone please clarify this all for me. How high is this entry requirement going to sore?!

Thank you.

the atar score has never ever been over 95 and a 4 point fluctuation in one year for a course that is already vtacs most popular is unlikely
stop stressing pls
btw congrats on your score ;D
you smashed your goal of 90 + haha :P

I don't think it's going to go up massively so you'll definitely get in.  Like the advisor said, you'll be fine. I doubt it if the clearly in is 91.40 that it's going to go up to 95, it just seems unrealistic. It might just go up to say (I'm guessing here because I'm not sure) 91.50.

The VTAC statistics aren't out yet, and so there's nothing from this year to go by in terms of application numbers, but I'd wager the house on it not going up to 95.10. Especially if the head of Arts told you that.

Yeah but realistically she doesn't know either.

Well firstly, as I said, it's pretty much guaranteed that it won't get that high. You can sleep easy.

And they do have a fair idea.

I also have SEAS, would that help? If it's needed.

Then nothing anybody says to you here is going to reassure you. I'm not sure how many people you want to tell you it's extremely unlikely the clearly in goes above 95, but you can add me to the list.

Yeah thanks for your understanding...

I didn't know how much the entry requirement was going to fluctuate this year and I asked AN to clarify it for me, I'm not trying to contest you in any way, I just needed clarification. Thank you for your kindness.

People clarified it for you, you kept coming up with reasons why it might not be true.
Just relax, enjoy your two months off before uni starts.

The clearly-in was on 91.40 last year, due to its high popularity.
It will most likely stay in the 90-92 range for next year.
It's unlikely that it will rise above 92.
It's very unlikely that it will rise above 93.
It's extremely unlikely, almost impossible, that it will rise above 94.

With an ATAR score of 95.10 and all prerequisites met (25+ in English), I can't realistically see any reason for you not to get in.
2012 ATAR - 86.75
2013 ATAR - 88.50
2014: BSci (Statistics) at RMIT
2015 - 2017: BCom at UoM

If you have 95 atar+SEAS, than I feel comfortable saying that you are in beyond any reasonable doubt.
