Hi I'd just like to know all of the topics in research methods that we will have to know. (eg: random sampling etc.)
Thanks !

unit 3
-types of sampling (stratified, random and random stratified) and their advantages and disadvantages
-research designs (repeated measures, matched participant and independent groups) and their advantages and disadvantages
-experimental and control groups (random allocation and what the two groups are used for)
-ethical principles (informed consent, debriefing, voluntary participation, deception, beneficence, withdrawal rights, confidentiality and professional conduct) and what the role of the researcher is
-how to minimise extraneous variables (single blind and double blind procedures)

unit 4 is all that, plus…
-types of research methods (experimental vs correlation study)
-statistics (descriptive, inferential, knowing if results are statistically significant or not, p values)
-sampling (define and identify the population of an experiment)
-variables (be able to define and identify the independent variables, dependent variables, confounding variables and extraneous variables in experiments)
-types of EV’s (placebo effect, experimenter effect, order effect, experimenter bias and self fulfilling prophecy) and ways to minimise their effects
-elements of an era. (intro., aim, hypothesis, method, etc.) most important thing here is to be able to write an aim, conclusion, and generalisation because that's what is usually on the exam.
-types of hypotheses (experimental, operational and null.) knowing how to write each of them.
-baseline data (how it's collected and what it's used for)
