I also suggest that those of you who are doing Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology to grab the ATARNotes Study Guides for these subjects, they'll be one of the first on the market with resources for the new 2013 - 2016 study design and will provide you with valuable materials for the new exam and course structure, including multiple topic tests, multiple practice exams, model solutions as well as super-detailed solutions to all tests and exams which walk you through each of the questions and explain them in great depth to you.

They're all written by great people who were where you were not that long ago, who understand the nuances of the courses and who have done more practice exams than you can possibly even imagine, so keep your eyes out for them, we've received great words from those who've used the ATARNotes books in the past year, from both schools and students.

Other books are also great - English, PE, Legal Studies, Maths will also be coming out for 2013 - which should be exciting.

Disclaimer: I am an author, so I may be biased, but in all seriousness, all of the books are truly great.

so will these books have combined unit 3+4 questions for chem because im scared of the lack or resources !

A lot of the resources will still be applicable and you can still use. It's not like they're radically redesigning the course and cutting everything in favour of new content. Also, I'm reasonably sure that other companies will also produce product for you to have a look at (especially since there are no midyears anymore)

yes, they are completely re-written from scratch for the new course, and all of the new practice exams are based on the new exam specifications.

Thanks so much for all the advice, guys.

I learnt this the hard way. Last summer, I was silly enough to finish the entire Further course (it only took about 3 weeks and that was at a very relaxed pace) but it seriously didn't help in the end - at the very most, I was able to say "Oh, I've seen that before" and then would have to do it again. I recommend to all Further students to only complete your headstart work, but also start on your bound reference (see the relevant thread for more information).

I only plan on doing all the set headstart homework and reading my English texts these holidays. I worked myself way too hard this year and I'm going to need an adequate break.

For Accounting Students:

I would recommend doing at least half of unit 3 in the holidays, this saves you times during the year to focus on other subjects. If you feel really motivated, complete unit 3 in the holidays :P

Entire Unit 3 is overkill LOL
I did all of Unit 4 accounting in the 2 week break, along with all of unit 4 chem.. Trust me its not overkill :P

Health - might be out for 2013
PE - already out - check it out in our eStore, alternatively, contact enwiabe (Director of ATARNotes) or aleitu1 (PE Book Author)

Outdoor Ed - no plans as of yet

I would advise all of you not to touch study during december. Next year's a long year so you wanna rest up so you can keep going consistently for the whole year. Especially if you've done a 3/4 this year just have a good long rest to get your mind in a good place before you steam ahead into u 3/4.

I've never done the UMAT but I highly doubt the benefits of studying for the UMAT bar the familiarity with the question, which you could surely get with the Acer booklets(??)
One thing you can do though is read the Age everyday and learn words you don't know etc so you generally understand the questions, and read books on logic and reasoning. Eriny mentioned one book that she used for LSAT prep, I'll find the thread in the next few days as I'm ridiculously tired right now. Probably more beneficial than the random questions etc.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️
