Hi,

So the title pretty much says it all. In order to get a 40+/45+ study score, does someone have to get full marks for the oral exam?

I'm just asking, because I'm feeling a bit insecure at the moment

No but you'll want ~355/400 on the exam for a 40 and I don't know what for a 45. Maybe 380/400? Guessing.

I got a 45 for German. And got 100% on the oral, didn't drop a mark on a sac and got 68/75 on the written.  I was really nervous on the day of the written and lost easy marks.  Just try and chill out and not do what I did! But at the end of the day.  a 40 and a 45 scale amazingly anyway.  For a 45, I got 370/400

Wow 100% for the ORAL!? Mein Gott  :)

Well, my oral is next week and I am a bit nervous actually. From my practices with my teacher, I noticed that if I lose confidence and happen to stumble on a word within the first 20 seconds, then I pretty much stuff up the rest. So hopefully I don't do this on the day! HAHA. That would be something  :-\

edit: What is this 370 or 380 out of 400? What is 400? Sorry if this seems naïve.

Well, 400 is the total amount of marks awarded for the German exam(both oral and written). You should probably look here: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/statistics/2012/section3/vce_lote_german_ga12.pdf. This is a grade distribution summary for your subject :)

they multiply your written exam by 4 (75 x 4 = 300) and then combine it with your oral exam mark (out of 100), so you have a kind of overall exam mark out of 400
