Thanks dude (or dudette) Now I just wanted to know the difference between Monic and Non-Monic.
Non monic - The number before the x squared (a) in a quadratic equation is more than one
Monic - The number before the x squared (a) in a quadratic equation is one

Thanks. Just need to know my year 8 text book and the year 9 basics. That All? ??? Do we need to learn extensively about consumer arithmetic and interest? Also Do you guys recommend Cramming the final hours before the exam? And final question, how does the 5% rule work? Only the top 5% from a schools year 8 level, and say 5% of a year 8 level is 6 students and 9-11 students from that school so the test. How many get in? Is it 5% from our school get into the selective schools, or 5% from our school gets into each of the school (so 5% to MHS, 5% to Suzanne Cory, 5% to Mac.Rob, etc)
Thanks again  ;) Stay cool  8)

It is 5% from your school get into the selective schools so including MHS, Suzanne Cory, Mac.Rob and Nossal :)

Hey Nova,
Please don't cram before the exam, it will stress you out more than anything. Maybe just read over a few notes, to get you in the mood :). The 5% rule basically means that no more than 5% of your current cohort can leave to that selective school (To my understanding, but it could also be that a maximum of 5% of the selective school's cohort can contain your school)

Hay guys, just wanted to know how to solve a question like this-
Concrete is made by mixing screenings cement and sand in the ratio 3:1:15. How much sand would be needed to make 125 tonnes? How do I know how much the ratio makes, and how do I solve these types of questions? Please help!!

hey NovaShock,
For ratios this is how I do it( not sure if its the right way or whatever )
3:1:15, you add these together then divide the answer into the total amount eg.
125 divided by 19 (125/19). Then when you get the quotient  ( for this it is a really long one 6.57... )
you use the quotient and multiply it by the parts if you want to find the 3 part (screening) it will be 6.57... * 3 or whatever it asks for.

Hey Novashock haha firstly just take a breath!

For every 15 parts of sand there are 3 parts of cement and 1 part of screenings.

Therefore, if sand makes up 15 parts of 19, then 15/19 = %78.9473 of the total mixture.

.789473*125 tonnes = ~ 98.68 tonnes of sand.
