Is VCE Music Performance hard to get a good study score??

I'm AMEB Grade 7 Piano level and I'm hoping to do Music Performance next year for Pianoforte (Classical piano). I've done AMEB Grade 3 Theory. Is it going to be really super hard to get a good study score? I'm hoping for 35+ in Music and I'm just worried that I won't get it because the competition will be super hard, since I'll be up against all the students who have practiced for hours a day since they were tiny... Any thoughts? Thanks :)

I'd say it would be pretty hard... there's people going in there with AMus/LMus and only come out of there with low 40s...

One word: yes. It will be difficult.

But there are a number of factors involved:

1. Whether you do group or solo performance (group is marked very lightly compared to solo)?

2. Your classroom teacher (if you have a crap teacher, you'll need to put in a lot of effort yourself to develop various ways of completing aural tasks).

3. Your class (If you have a class full of idiots that just muck around, chances are it will be difficult to learn).

With all this in mind, a good score is certainly achievable, it will just take a significant amount of work.

In the end, if you don't achieve a great score, don't get put off music performance. The way they assess you is very unreasonable and unrealistic.

I'm in the same boat as you, feel free to PM me.
