Doing same pieces in Investigation/Performance

I completed Music Performance (solo piano) this year, and I'm thinking about doing Investigation next year (also solo piano). I'm wondering, can you 'carry over' any of the pieces that were done for performance for investigation?

Yes - I have a friend who was in the exact position as you, and used one of her pieces from performance as her focus area song.
