Listening part of the french exam

For those who have completed VCE French and have sat the exam, I'd like to ask by what means is the listening played out? I'd assume it is pre-recorded and played from one radio using speakers. And if that's the case, in the exam room is the radio situated at the front or centre of the room? I know these questions may seem stupid but they're important for me for personal reasons.
Cheers

For me it pre-recorded and played out from speakers at the front of the room, I assume it's the same everywhere due to protocol.

Was it loud enough for people at the back to be able to hear well?

We just used one of those old boombox-type CD-players. It's always pre-recorded onto a CD (or maybe some other digital format since I did it in '12), and played from the invigilator's desk at the front of the room.

I had a fairly small class (~8 people IIRC) and we were in a fairly large hall, and sound quality wasn't an issue at all. If you are for some reason sat far away from it and it's not loud enough, just tell the invigilators and they'll move you/turn it up.
