Legal Question

IF this topic was to be on an exam, which I doubt, how many marks would you expect it to be worth.... I just want to know so I can gauge how much I need to write.

'Would you say the process by which laws are made in Australia is fair?'

I think I should write about:
-Bicameral System (+and-(balance of power in the Senate)) compare to queensland??
-Process of a Bill through Parliament
-Role of the Houses (State's house & People's house)
and then finish off with the overall fairness

Can anyone tell me if I'm going in the right direction with this response??
Thanks

Depends how many marks its worth. It would say on the exam.
That looks like a 4 mark question.
I would probably say: On the whole the process is fair. All citizens are part of the law-making process, they all choose their reps, etc. however when the govt controls the majority in both houses the interested from the minority parties and the people they represent is not always able to be expressed as majority in both houses leads to less discussion and the passing of unpopular bills. EXAMPLE - John Howard Industrial Relation laws. The govt are however respresenting the majority of the people and their actions would be protected by the constitution so they are indeed acting reasonably and fairly.
I dunno... we may need to dip into another part of the course to answer this question. :P
