I can never be bothered checking over my practice exams. The way I see it, it's best not to, because it forces you to pick up on and especially remember all the little mistakes when you mark it. So far my highest practice exam mark has been 88/90 and most are ~85/90.  I only give myself an hour to do each exam, with no reading time, so on the real one I should have a full half hour to check.

Yup Never bother checking Practice exams here either. I almost " force" myself to make mistakes on practice papers, then write down my mistakes and drill them into my head. That way, I never make the same mistake again.

TIPS for the exam:

  • Make the most of reading time, skim read through the paper – identifying which bits you find hard and easy.
  • You don’t necessarily have to start on the first question of the paper, start where you feel comfortable.
  • Make sure you have a highlighter (something bright-coloured) to underline key information in the question (i.e. Reporting Period, Dates etc)
  • READ THE QUESTION CAREFULLY!– you may miss information (i.e. narrations in the General Journal)
  • If you think you are right in regards to a question, then you’re probably right - don’t be fooled by tricks.
  • If you finish the paper and have spare time, check over each question making sure you’ve answered what is required of the question.
  • Stick to your guns.

Good Luck to everyone for Thursday! Give the exam your best shot and anything is possible! =)

True. I'd happily take 89/90 for the exam tomorrow.

Hint # 2: If you found the exam hard, mostly likely everyone else in the state found it hard.

Hint # 3: Don't eat junk food before the exam (i.e. chips etc) - unless for a small sugar hit. Eat fresh fruit and bring some water in if you must.

Hint # 4: Don't cram tonight. =) Relax and read over your notes. Do a practice exam if you must but don't do like 5 tonight - it will just make you more stressed and finally get some sleep - staying up to 11-12 pm, the night before an exam is in no way beneficial to you.

I'm sure most of you guys already know this, I just thought I'd reinforce this. =P

Once again, Good Luck! =)

Just did VCAA 09
and i barely put a foot wrong with the mistakes
87/90, new all time high!

The confidence is up, I know it was quite an easy exam, but this is a good result, hopefully I can transform my mistake free.. to the exam tomorrow

Good luck Everyone :)

LOL I got 90/90 for the VCAA 07' exam, though that's not saying much considering it was my second time doing it - I didn't realise how low the cut-off for A+ was in 07'. 77.5/90 was the cut-off.

Curious do you guys mark your own theory answers to exams? or do you get your teacher to mark theory parts of the exam

Both. I gave about 4 or 5 papers to my teacher to mark. LOL though I'm generally more lenient to myself (when I mark) than I really should be.

Yeh was gonna say if your marking yourself you are more then likely lenient on your theory answers. The examiners are pretty picky on which specific parts MUST be included in your answers.

Just make sure you are able to highlight a point for each mark the question is worth. If you are unable to see that you clearly stated 2 points for a 2 marks question, it's highly unlikely that the examiners would.

The cut-off for A+ in 2008 was 75/90.
