So, bilgia and others, how did you go? Easy? Hard? Moderate?

well, it was mainly easy stuff, i managed to answer all of it, yet some confusion arose with infinite series....like the ratio tests in proving sin(x^2)'s convergence (lol i think i just made up some stuff to suit the "show that" scenario)
martices, partial derivatives, approximate integration, differential eqns were all straightforward.

Good stuff mate.

We don't do series or differential equations in UMEP. ^^

Instead we do all that volume, surface area and polar shizzle. :D Which, by the way, is fanTASTIC. :P Btw, Ahmad, can you explain to me why the equation for curved surface of revolution is 2pi|(ysqrt(1+(dy/dx)^2)dx? I mean, I get that 2piy is the radius, but shouldn't you get another delta x for thickness of the slice?

enwiabe, are you talking about cylindrical shells (volume) or surface area?

2*pi*rho*ds is the infinitesimal surface area of revolution, where rho is the radius of revolution and ds is the infinitesimal arc length. A convincing argument for this is to think of a tiny part of a surface area of revolution as a circumference multiplied by a tiny piece of arc length ds, which gives some sort of very tiny conical area.

For a more rigorous argument, you can chop up the whole surface area into an infinite sum of infinitesimal surface area of conical frustrums. Which you can then sum up as a riemann sum.

ds = sqrt[dx^2 + dy^2]

I don't know if you sat the same Monash Paper as I did (I did it by Enhancement studies from Monash Gippsland), but I found the series and sequence questions in questions 7 and 8 challenging.

Questions 1, 2, 3 and 4 were straight forward (plug into formulas, yay!)

So long as I get my HD i'll be happy =D
rediction of Scores:

English: 40 (hopefully) ; Spec: 40, Methods: 40-45, Physics 35, Enhancement: HD. Last year- History 38; I.T 42.

Hopeful ENTER 98. (I need it for my scholarship :()
