i must agree with BA22, wtf's up the newbies asses. A lot seem to think they either:
a) know everything
b) decide how people should behave
or
c) think they should equal respect as opposed to a long time contributer with quality posts.
EDIT: be have to behave
but how can you that
a) they don't know everything (or at least more than you)
b) they don't know what is the better way for people to behave
or
c) they shouldn't deserve the same respect as some of our longtime-standing contributors
?
You can't, because you don't know them, because they haven't had the time or opportunity to show what they really could do.
honestly I respect some newer members more than some of our older members, and some things newbies say have some degree of validity. just because you've been here longer doesn't mean you are a 'better' member than them. there is no need to use the label 'newbie asses'.
a) no one knows everything. no one.
b) that's just stupid. How can some one know what is the better way for people to behave in general. Does that person even know who the other person is? So then how can they know how others should behave?
c) A person who has contributed to VN over a long time in a helpful way should be given more credit than a new person with 2 posts. I think you can agree on that to.
edit: btw i'm not saying they aren't helpful or they don't make useful posts. Hell a lot of newbies make some of the best posts here. But my point is, if a person who has made <5 posts comes on and degrades another with 300 posts + who has contributed lots to the site, i see that as being an ass.
When you go out socializing and meet new people, you don't straight away act as if you've known them all their life. You slowly get to know them, be attentive, social etc and then become friends.
