Apparently the foundation maths students at our school this year got to go to Hungry Jacks and measure the length of the fries and record the prices of food etc. It was either the foundation class or the further class, although I don't see the further maths people doing this.

LOL Have fun would that be

Its pretty much grade 5 maths- no jokes.
I have some people at my school who do it, they do the 'shading of a pie-put it into a fraction' stuff. The people that do it aren't dumb asses, they just ceebs with math/want to do a trade.

Well I know at my school they do some very complex tasks in foundation....

This is what I've witnessed occur in a foundation class:

- They tied barbie dolls to pieces of string to see how far they could throw them, for a double period. I could see them on the oval, I was like wtf are they doing.  (Still don't understand how they could justify it's relevance to maths..)
- The did nets of shapes on there exam, apparently it had the net of a square and yet still some people failed.
- Baking a cake, and they got absolutely NO help with measurements. So glad I'm doing methods I don't think I could cope with foundations difficulty..

i don't know why people are paying out those who do further / foundation, they may have a learning difficulty like for example my brother. So until you guys know anything about the people that undertake this kind of learning, there's no need to comment negatively towards. You guys should be greatful that at you are fortunate to be succesful in academics.

@ hutchoo

Why is it necessary to comment upon one's spelling and belittle them by crushing their dreams of 96+. I couldn't give two shits that you're in year 10, for all I care you lack the maturity and basic human interaction skills to survive in UNI or elsewhere, even if you  can do a few sums or remember a few words.

I actually think foundation maths is a good initiative. Not everyone's good at school - everyone has different strengths - but basic mathematical knowledge is essential. I think it's positive that there's a course encouraging students who wouldn't otherwise have persisted with mathematics to develop mathematical skills.
