Imaginative Essay Help - Outcome next week

I go to Balwyn High and the competition in SLA is insane, basically fobs that meet the SL requirements.

Although my oral is fine, my writing sucks. I have trouble remembering many vital words and I'm also clueless when it comes to idioms etc.

Next week I have an outcome on Imaginative Essays (and Personal, but it's been suggested this'd be harder to prepare for) and I'm in desperate need of essay help.

Any ideas, suggestions, that I could research?

Thanks

P.S: Please don't hand me a lmgtfy.com link, first hand experience and advice would be appreciated.

Don't try to remember vital words. I think you should just go with what you know and use alot. Otherwise with new words or phrases you might not know how to use them in a sentence properly and it can end up sounding awkward.

Im not sure how exactly you can research 'ideas' because isnt it just a random topic?

Sometimes 4 word idioms and 'big' words do not necessarily make the essay seem better - especially if they are used in the wrong context, which will lead to marks taken off for grammar and vocabulary. Just make sure you stick to the essay topic and distinguish whether the essay is an imaginative or personal piece. There are some topics which are ambiguous between the two. Also, for SL - my teacher last year advised me never to write imaginative pieces because it is hard to achieve high marks with it, especially if you are weak at writing Chinese. To practice, I guess you can expand your Chinese vocabulary and learn some words which will be useful in describing your senses for personal writing - what u see, feel etc.

Are there very popular general idioms such as 不可或缺 sort of thing that you can use it many types of imaginative essays?

圆圆的脸 is a very common basic one (used over 圆脸,圆的脸 etc)
