Subjects for Medicine?

Hello, I don't really know where to put this so I'll just put it here since it relates to methods somewhat.

I plan to study medicine at university. I want to complete the following subjects in year 12:

Methods
Specialist
Biology
Chemistry
English

Now I do not really know what to do for the 6th subject. I originally wanted to do physics but I do not think that will help with medicine. Any advice on what to do?

Mod edit: moved to more relevant area

edit: mod moved. Thanks

Depends what university you wanted to study at but with those subjects I think you should be fine.

Physics can still help a bit with medicine especially in terms of biophysics.

Physics is actually used a fair bit in medicine. Also since your doing spec it would be a good combo.
Other subjects like Health and Human Development as well as Psychology are also great choices.

2019/2020 - Psychology | Biology | Chemistry | Methods | Further | English
2021 - Science @ Melbourne University

Your subjects fit the prerequisites for medicine (30+ in Chem and English).

Ideally, a sixth subject would be handy for that extra aggregate, but since you are interested in medicine, you would also need to sit the UCAT which requires some practice (kind of like an extra subject). Given you are doing Spesh, the content in physics will not be as new or difficult to you

I'm of the opinion that any and all subjects can help you in medicine.
Philosophy has been a great background for medical ethics and clinical decision making. English language has been useful when navigating professionalism and patient communication. Literally whatever it is, if you reflect and draw connections between your life experiences, you can realise its worth.

I think the more important thing is to think about what subject you are more innately passionate about. The passion will help you study well and get good marks, and the good marks is what will really help you in medicine – well, the 'getting in' part, that is.
The rest is just arbitrary. I didn't take biology but I'm doing fine. Not everyone took chem and they're doing fine. I'm terrible at math but am doing fine. Some people don't have great English skill but do fine. Just focus on putting your best foot forward and you can learn the rest later.
Good luck xx
Sometimes you make choices, and sometimes choices make you.
