I was planning on doing lit for VCE, u reckon that's still a good idea since jmss is a science school.
I'm actually in my lit class rn hahha, hmmm it really depends. I don't really think the fact that we are a science school has a big impact, as we still get pretty good scores in the englishes. do you enjoy english? do you you enjoy reading and writing? I did literature last year, and this year I decided to drop history and take up both lit and english. Personally, I'm doing better in english in terms of sacs and probably ranking BUT I will say it is alot harder to do well in english, because the cohort is considerably larger. Lit does require lots of work, lots of reading and you have to undertake alot of this yourself because you choose what type of writing you wanna do (in terms of feminist, marxist psychoanalytical etc...) hope I'm making sense! English on the other hand, you don't really get alot of freedom. You have to write in a very specific essay structure, whereas in lit you can just do whatever you like, so long as you form a cohesive piece of analysis. Don't worry though, because you still have year 10 to sort of test out how you feel, and if you pick lit in year 11 and decide that you don't like it, you can always drop it in year 12 and pick up english, or do both like I did
Omg I saw you in the 2018 JMSS thread (yes I read up to 2017s JMSS threads) I’m honestly not super smart... do you think I’ll be fine in VCE? I’m kind of scared that I’ll be really behind. I seriously can’t believe I’m actually going to JMSS I’ve been reading these forums since like yr 7 or smth I don’t even remember!?? It’s crazy I always thought of you guys who got in as sOoo amazing (I still do)
Hii!! hahah it's crazy, the 2017 thread blew up but I stopped using AN for like 3 years lol the truth in with vce, is that it's really proportional to the amount of effort you put in. I'm not naturally that smart either hahaha but i like to think that I put in a fair bit of effort and I think that's what really matters. Form good study habits, be proactive and youll be fine!!^_^
